Industrial Mechanics is designed for postsecondary, industrial, and apprenticeship training programs. With an emphasis on common industrial applications, this textbook covers the four fundamental instrumentation measurements of temperature, pressure, level, and flow, in addition to position, humidity, moisture, and typical liquid and gas measuring instruments. Fundamental scientific principles, detailed illustrations, descriptive photographs, and concise text are used throughout.
Introduction to Thermography Principles provides an overview of the latest information on the safe, efficient, and practical use of thermal imagers. This full-color booklet depicts thermal images of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, hydraulic, and pneumatic circuits.
Real-world examples illustrate commercial, industrial, municipal, and residential applications. In addition, the book provides information on thermography analysis, reporting, documentation, return on investment resources, and related technologies.
This process involves planning a lift, evaluating and preparing a load, choosing appropriate rigging equipment, rigging a load, communicating hoisting instructions, and conducting a lift safely. Online Resources provide interactive tools that reinforce key concep[ts and other signaling practice.
This new book has five chapters that include the fundamental principles, basic procedures, common applications, and inspection methodologies of handheld portable oscilloscopes as compared to other test instruments such as clamp-on ammeters and digital multimeters DMMs. Detailed commercial and industrial illustrations, applications, and procedures supplement the material. This full-color textbook is designed to develop basic competencies related to fundamental concepts and advanced topics.
It can be used in a classroom learning situation, as a self-study text, or as a desktop reference book on motor operation. The text offers real-world applications that an electrician is likely to face in the field and combines that usage with the theoretical content in the textbook. It is designed to give instructors everything they need to teach a course in Motor s. The Resource Guide includes course objectives, course development information, methods of instruction, instructional outlines, resources, and answers to questions in the text.
A CD-ROM is included , featuring electronic slides of all the illustrations in the text and links to useful resources on the Internet. This is a complete instructional package for teaching Motor s. Yet hundreds of deaths and thousands of disabling injuries still occur each year due to shock, electrocution, arc flash, and arc blast -- and most could be prevented through NFPA 70E compliance. This textbook is designed for use in introductory safety courses and by professionals who want to advance in the field as well as individuals who need to understand and implement safety programs.
Appropriate safety regulations and laws, hazard recognition, and personal protective equipment are addressed. This full-color manual to Personal Protective Equipment PPE is a "must" for the practicing electrical contractor or electrician.
An abundance of full-color photographs illustrate equipment in a wide variety of work environments. Online and portable power monitoring concepts are detailed for commercial, industrial, and residential applications.
Power quality measurements with various types of test instruments are introduced with common applications. Chapter reviews and activities help reinforce learning of key concepts. On-line and portable power monitoring and testing concepts are detailed. Power quality measurements are introduced with common applications. Factoids throughout the chapters relate to power quality principles, troubleshooting tips, test instrument applications, and selected chapter content. Power Quality Measurement and Troubleshooting is authorized by the Fluke Corporation , and Fluke test instruments are depicted throughout the text.
Expanded coverage on procedures for phase unbalance measurement, single phasing measurement, three phase measurement, phase sequence measurement, and motor rotation measurement Principles of Earth Grounding Resistance - Created in Cooperation with Fluke Corporation By: Glen A. Principles of Earth Grounding Resistance is a new resource that covers the fundamentals of earth ground resistance testing.
It concentrates on soil resistance testing, grounding system installation location, verification of grounding system integrity, and ground system testing and maintenance principles. This informative and full color textbook serves as both an instructional tool and a valuable technical reference for professionals in the field. Different types of prints used in industry are represented throughout the textbook, including plot plans, floor plans, and elevations.
Prints are also used in conjunction with code requirements to determine dwelling load calculations. This textbook serves as both an instructional tool and a valuable technical reference for professionals in the field. Large illustrations organize and simplify complex topics for easy learning.
Numerous trade competency tests and two final exams are included. A comprehensive glossary contains definitions of common electrical and printreading terms. This text serves as both an instructional tool and a valuable reference for professionals in the field. Google Books? Nope, that's not it. A quick search for ""Industrial Power Systems Handbook" Beeman" returns some links for a pdf to download, they are from rapidshare and 4shared. Not sure about those sites. Being published in it may be public domain, I am not up on all the copyright laws. I have posted it once before. It is one o fthe best treatments of DC short circuits I have seen. BJC, Thanks for sharing that file! But, while you may be aware of it, others may not realize that that file's 8 pages are only the last of five sections under the tab "D-C System Short-circuit Current Calculations.
The transient resistance numbers discussed for these machines are absolutely critical to any fault current analysis involving these machines. The bibliography for that first section may also represent the best of the old AIEE white papers on this subject.
I thought someday I would get around to scanning them but now I don't have to. Well, I must be lucky. I have my father in laws book by Beeman that he gave me when he retired and I have the GE original one in the binder that I recovered at a previous employer's site that was being disposed up.
BJC, If you ever find yourself with time to scan that lot then please post the whole thing. You got any apprentices at your place? Sounds like a great job for an apprentice or an intern Quote Jon : "A quick search for ""Industrial Power Systems Handbook" Beeman" returns some links for a pdf to download, they are from rapidshare and 4shared.
Does the Beeman book discuss DC fault current studies at all? I guess I can't appreciate what the insight of the Beeman book is if it is focuses on AC analyses? Seems that there has been 50 years of follow-up in that area. But, DC fault current studies, now that's an area that appears to me to have had no follow-up since roughly ! You will surely make a lot of people happy if you can share with us your book in pdf format. I am not near my copy of the Industrial Handbook but I am pretty sure it has the explanation of power factor utilizing the mug of beer, no foam low power factor, lots of foam high power factor.
In Chapter 8 on capacitors,it states w. It was written long before the large increase in harmonic producing loads appeared on the electrical systems. By contrast the chapters on rotating plant look pretty good.
