Storyline Edit. Karim Khan is employed as driver for a gangster named Don, who has an accident with his car, and asks Karim to take the blame for it for a hefty sum of cash, which Karim does so, and is imprisoned.
Razia complains to Police Inspector Anwar, who arrests Don and holds him in prison, pending his trial in court. When Anwar finds out that his new-born son, Iqbal, is in need of a pace-maker, which he is unable to afford, he makes a compromise with Don, who lets him have one.
Iqbal undergoes surgery and a pace-maker number , considered lucky in Islamic faith, is attached to his tiny heart. But Don and a prostitute by the name of Banoo have other plans for Anwar, which they carry out successfully, and abduct young Iqbal, who ends up growing on the streets as an orphan named Allah Rakha. Several years later, Allah Rakha has grown up, and is friendly with a prostitute named Rani, who happens to be the daughter of Banoo.
When News-reporter decides to do TV report on Rani's life, she does not realize that she has opened up a Pandora's box, that will bring the past back to life, and expose her life to danger, deceit, and possible death. Trivia The script was written with Amitabh Bachchan in mind to play the title role, but he had gone into politics and was not doing films so the role went to Jackie Shroff.

Allah Rakha review : Jackie Shroff stepped in to the titular role meant for Amitabh Bachchan who turned it down as he was busy pursuing a political career at that time. The film, directed by Ketan Desai, was an extension of pappa Manmohan Desai's Coolie and quite a few elements from that blockbuster were repeated here - from the hero's name Iqbal to the number '' acting as savior.
The sub plot of Allah Rakha fighting his evil doppelganger was said to be borrowed from Amitabh's shelved film Khuda Gawah. In contrast to her image, Meenakshi Sheshadri played a fiery prostitute and she stole the show though her role was smaller than Dimple Kapadia who was the main heroine. Then newcomer Jackie Dada was not too bad as the lead but clearly unable to match to what Bachchan could've done to Allah Rakha. The end result was a flop film. Leaving home, at the age of 12, he moved into an uncle's home in Gurdaspur.
Inspired by the playing of local musicians, he convinced tabla player Mian Qader Baksh of the Punjab Gharana school to take him on as a disciple. Rakha mastered his lessons quickly. By his 15th birthday, he had begun working with a theater company. He remained with the station until when he became involved with the Hindi film industry as a session musician.
He eventually rose to the position of music director for Rangmahal Studios. Moving to classical music in , Rakha resumed his career as an accompanist. Rakha's legacy is continued by his sons Zakir Hussein and Fazal Quereshi. His beloved daughter, Razia, died of a sudden heart attack the night before his own death.
